This made me laugh! I have the same problem with my 3 boys! The oldest doesn’t like it on high because he says it sounds like the garage door is opening.
Fortunately, the fan oscillates so it helps “share the air”.
Compromise and Reason

Last night, as I was tucking Gabrielle into her bed, she asked me to turn on her electric fan.
“Put it on HIGH!” she told me.
I sighed. This is a nightly battle. Her sister roommates don’t like the fan on high, but night after night, Gabby insists.
“How about if we put it on medium instead?” I suggested.
“Noooooo,” Gabby began a predictable protest. “Just this one time can’t I have it on high?”
She had my sympathy. It’s hard to be the littlest girl and outnumbered to boot.
“How about if we put the fan on medium, but direct it right at you?” I suggested.
Thank you God for everyday miracles—she consented.
After setting up the fan just so, I pulled her blankets over her small body and kissed her.
“Thank you,” I said as I smoothed her hair, “for being so very reasonable.”
She grinned and turned over to sleep.
Never one to be had, though, as I was leaving the room she called out a question.
“Mama?”
“Yes, sweetie?”
“Does ‘reasonable’ mean crabby?”
