What a great picture!
Doing My Heart Good

Last week on our walk at the river, we passed a bridge on the way back to the car.
“Let’s jump off,” said my ten-year-old with much, much enthusiasm. This bridge crosses over the canal that runs parallel to the river, and it is a favorite jumping spot of many older boys (including my brother, Uncle Zach, he who has told my boys all about it).
Elliott begged and pleaded to be allowed to jump, and then tried to convince his brothers to jump as well.
“This just seems like a really bad idea,” said eight-year-old Charlie. And I’ll admit right here that I swooned, just a little—these are words that do not often come from this boy’s mouth.
“Come on Ethan,” said Elliott, turning to his older brother, “let’s jump together.”
“Nope,” said Ethan, “I always go second.”
(so instead, Elliott had to settle for jumping off this hay)
