Thank you for posting about her. She is my daughter’s patron Saint, and her story truly is remarkable. The “Glory Stories” cd featuring her is wonderful!
St. Rose of Lima

Today is the feast of St. Rose of Lima, who was the first saint canonized from the Western Hemisphere. Her life story is worth reading. A long version is here, and a shorter version appropriate for children (without graphic descriptions of St. Rose’s asceticism) is here.
An interesting bit of trivia: St. Rose’s feast was traditionally celebrated on August 30th, but is now celebrated on the 23rd, at least in the United States.
I found this quotation from St. Rose’s writings: “Apart from the cross there is no other ladder by which we may get to heaven.” How incredibly true, and what a truth to remember in our daily lives!
St. Rose of Lima, pray for us.
