So cute! I would like to try Latin with my own kids, but I haven’t exactly been good about praying the rosary in English—I think I’ll wait until it’s a habit before we try the Latin.

A few years ago Benedict XVI asked that all Catholics learn the basic prayers of the Church in Latin to facilitate our praying together, so we made it a practice to pray a decade of our family rosary in Latin every evening. They’re used to it now, but at the time our kids’ reactions were decidedly mixed. I was reminded of this recently when Joseph, our newest reader, took a turn presenting the meditation for the First Sorrowful Mystery and got to:
In English, he prayed even more earnestly....Which I’m fairly certain was less a reading error than a freudian slip. Oh well. I’m sure he’ll thank us for it later.
